INTEREG IV – Erosion and monument protection in Lake Constance and Zurich
Investigation of the surface wave field and particle resuspension
The project investigates within the framework of the INTERREG IV – ‘Erosion and monument protection in Lake Constance and Zurich’ the properties of the surface wave field and occurring resuspension of particles at the under water heritage sites of Sipplingen-Osthafen, Unteruhldingen, Litzelstetten-Krähenhorn, and Steckborn-Schanz situated around Lake Constance. The project focuses on the following key aspects:
i) Long-term measurement of the surface wave field, near-bottom-current velocities, and suspended sediment concentration throughout the season;
ii) Wave exposure and relative importance of wind and ship waves at the study sites for sediment resuspension;
iii) Modeling of the surface wave field at high spatial and temporal scales and prediction of the site-specific probability of sediment resuspension.
