Our research is focused on spindle associated motor-proteins, checkpoint-signaling, and the regulation of cell cycle progression by ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation. To modulate protein function in living cells we apply cell biological approaches as well as small molecule inhibitors. The application of chemical inhibitors – an approach termed Chemical Biology – allows the modulation of protein activity on a fast time scale. Our model systems are tissue culture cells and Xenopus laevis.
Applicants with a strong interest in cell cycle regulation or the micro-tubule cytoskeleton should send their application including a curriculum vitae and the names of referees to Thomas Mayer.
