Due to the performance and achievements of the center, CAAT-Europe was chosen in 2014 as an official External expertise service provider in the areas of science and technology options assessment for the European Parliament in the area of 'Life sciences for human well-being'.
STOA is a body of the European Parliament whose purpose is to provide Members and bodies of the European Parliament with high-quality, independent assessments of scientific and technical issues that are relevant to the European Parliament in its role as legislator (Article 1, paragraphs 2 and 3 of the STOA Rules, adopted by the Bureau of the European Parliament on 19 April 2004). The 'Framework Service Contract' is intended to be used as the main source of external expertise to enable the Parliament to fulfill the mission and objectives of STOA.
Lot 6: Life Sciences for human well-being
The third programme of EU action in the field of health (2014-2020) ‘Health for Growth’, emphasizes the links between economic growth and a healthy population. The Programme is geared towards actions with clear EU added value, in line with the Europe 2020 priorities. It focuses on four specific objectives with a strong potential for economic growth through better health: 1) to contribute to innovative and sustainable health systems; 2) to increase access to better and safer healthcare for EU citizens; 3) to prevent diseases and promote good health; and 4) to protect citizens from cross border health threats.
