Hiwi Stelle/Research Assistant Position
Video coding of wild chimpanzee field experiments
- Work: I’m looking for a student to join me as a research assistant at the Development and Evolution of Cognition research group at the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behaviour. The student will be tasked with coding videos of field experiments with wild chimpanzees. This includes data management, video preparation (cutting, merging, etc.), coding with video coding software BORIS, data extraction, and basic analysis (eg. inter observer reliability).
Up to 20 weekly working hours, at least partly at the MPI office at Bücklestraße 5
- Requirements: Master or Bachelor student in Biology, Psychology or related fields.
I’m looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and highly focused person. The work can be repetitive and demands focused attention to detail over long periods of time. The student should show interest in cognition and evolutionary processes and desire to work in an international team. Previous experience with video coding or field work is advantageous, but not necessary. Experience with R is desired, good spoken and written English is necessary.
